Genesis Staff

"It all starts with good people..."

For more than 42 years, the compassionate, well-trained staff at Genesis Learning Centers has provided the greater Middle Tennessee community  with quality education for unique and special students. We are dedicated professionals working for the betterment of our students while we are committed to providing the best possible climate for development and maximum achievement of our goals for all employees.

“… each staff member of Genesis Learning Centers is committed to providing a positive, safe and secure educational and treatment environment for all our kids. Their focus is to help each student discover and reach their potential emotionally, socially, behaviorally, academically and vocationally.  As Genesis Learning Centers strives for excellence, it is our mission as individuals and as a whole to assist each child, youth, and adult we serve to reach for their greatest human potential, to find success from within, and to actively participate in the community of humankind.   Every school system and every agency serving children says they have the “best” staff.  We are no different. We demand excellence of our employees...  we carefully select staff who can guide our students to be the best they can be. ”

Working at Genesis Learning Centers

At Genesis Learning Centers, we are committed to creating a positive, supportive work environment that fosters professional growth and empowers every employee to achieve their greatest potential. Our philosophy is built on three core principles:

  • Treat every employee as an individual.

  • Foster a strong spirit of teamwork.

  • Encourage collaboration in pursuit of shared goals.

To support these principles, we strive to maintain a workplace that is welcoming, progressive, and centered on open communication. We believe employees should feel comfortable discussing questions, concerns, and challenges in a respectful environment where individual circumstances are considered and solutions are developed collaboratively.

One of the unique strengths of Genesis Learning Centers is our leadership model. Our principals and program managers are actively engaged in the daily operation of their schools. Rather than remaining behind a desk, they work alongside staff, providing ongoing guidance, support, and direct involvement with students. This hands-on approach ensures that leadership is accessible and that employees receive the coaching and assistance they need to be successful.

We firmly believe that honest, respectful communication is the foundation of strong working relationships. By addressing concerns directly and working together, we can resolve most challenges while maintaining a culture of mutual trust and respect.

Exceptional staff begin with exceptional training. Each school year starts with six to eight days of pre-service training and preparation. The first two days, known as Genesis University, bring together employees from all Genesis programs for comprehensive instruction in the philosophies, practices, and skills that define our organization.

Training topics include positive instructional strategies, suicide prevention and awareness, counseling techniques, behavior management, recognizing psychological indicators in students, de-escalation and management of aggressive behaviors, first aid, CPR, ALICE, safety, and other essential skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and compassionate services to our students.

Professional development continues throughout the year through scheduled in-service days and ongoing training opportunities. We are committed to equipping every employee with the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to succeed while continually growing as professionals in service to our students and their families.

Equal Opportunity and ADA

Genesis Learning Centers recognizes it is our responsibility to our students, employees, contractors, and the communities in which we operate; and it is Genesis organizational policy that we accept, enroll, and educate our students, as well as, select, hire, and employ qualified employees with the clear commitment that during their enrollment or employment they are treated fairly and without regard to race, religion, sex, color, age, physical, or mental disability, national origin, marital status, or sexual orientation.  In addition, creed, ancestry, and lawful use of tobacco or alcohol during non-working time are protected classes in Tennessee.

Genesis Learning Centers is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities, which may include providing reasonable accommodation where appropriate.
